My name is Roger Brown and I have been very happy working as the Cook with the Monkey See Monkey Do team in Burlington for almost a year.
I started my journey in the culinary field at Mövenpick in Toronto and moved to the Granite Club as first cook for over five years. The exposure to a high standard of quality service expanded my abilities and knowledge. Cooking is one of my strongest skills-but it’s also a passion.
The main reason I decided to join the Monkey See Monkey Do team was because it allowed me to spend time with my 3 year old daughter. I wanted to ensure I could provide her with a regular routine. I wanted to be home to cook her dinner. Having a small child reaffirmed to me the importance of providing her good food. It is important to her in her growing years. This personal promise I have to my family I share with the children at the Monkey See Monkey Do day care.
Since starting this role I have given much focus to ensuring the food served to the children contains few preservatives or additives. The meals are cooked from scratch from whole grain and whole food products. Any parent whose child has sensitivities or allergies to certain foods can be confident that their special diets and requirements are met. There are simple alternatives to many every day foods that I incorporate in to the meal plans.
During the spring and summer time I have developed a herb and vegetable garden on site that provides fresh tomatoes, eggplants, peppers, parsley, thyme, among other items that are used in the Monkey See Monkey Do kitchen, daily. I can’t wait to get 2014’s garden up and running.
I look forward to continuing my service with Monkey See Monkey Do in providing good, balanced meals to all the children who come through the doors.
